Design is storytelling

Before I knew what UX was, I was making design decisions on every page. Font choice, cover color, chapter breaks — all of it shapes emotional response. Writing a book is a full-stack design project.

Shipping at 16

Publishing at 16 taught me that the bar for "ready" is something you set yourself. Nobody gave me permission. I just finished it, designed the cover, and put it out.

Optimism as a product

Morri was written during a period of real isolation. The goal was to build something that made one person feel less alone. That's still the goal with everything I make.

What's next

A second book is on the list — somewhere between the hardware projects and the product work. The writing never really stops.

Flew to Denver.
Sold out.

I flew to Denver to speak about Morri. I attended a conference, and had a stack of books ready to speak about my story. In less than 4 hours, everything was sold out. It was the first time I understood that a story I'd made entirely alone could fill a room with strangers who needed to hear it. That experience, designing something, shipping it, then watching it connect; is what drives everything I build.

"A story I made entirely alone filled a room full of strangers who needed to hear it."
